OKAY SO this is gonna be a mess because tbh Lelouch and Suzaku are really similar characters who feel similarly about a lot of things but handle things so differently and that's kind of why I'm a big Leloser and Suzaku is more YEAH I GUESS I LIKE HIM A LOT too for me wait this is more me figuring it out than any coherent explanation so BEAR WITH ME. Or stop reading either is fine.
OKAY SO LIKE, ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS THAT MY #1 TYPE OF CHARACTER IS THE really pretty (this is a bonus) genius hardworking over-protective older brother type. Extra bonus points if they're a huge loser and totally don't know what love is beyond the scope of their absolute dedication to their younger sibling. I AM WEAK TO THIS TYPE. WEAK. Bonus if they're a prince/corporate equivalent and have a somewhat depressing backstory.
ON THE OTHER HAND I really can't stand the type of character that is so enormously self-centered in that "THERE ARE PEOPLE STARVING IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES AND IT IS MY FAULT" like oh my god the world doesn't revolve around you and the shit hand you've been dealt?
WAIT I THINK THAT'S IT. Lelouch's life is SHIT but he doesn't let it get him down. His entire philosophy was about living to see the future and trying to make a better world for the people he loved (WHICH INCLUDED SUZAKU) while Suzaku's life was also shit but instead of really doing anything productive about it he just went around trying to get himself killed.
AND YEAH I guess that's realistic because lol humanity is shit but I don't need that in my fictional characters okay I'm so.
Lelouch and Suzaku both blame themselves for literally everything that happens but the way they handle everything is very different? Lelouch tries to atone and move forward and try to make the best of things while Suzaku just gets pissed he can't be successively suicidal and then the shit he pulls in R2 is like YO WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?!
AND IN THE END THE PERSON WHO KILLS HIMSELF (TECHNICALLY) IS LELOUCH SO THAT PEOPLE CAN HAVE A BETTER FUTURE AND I'M SO UPSET I'M GOING TO CRY IN THIS STUDENT LOUNGE WHY DID YOU GET ME ON THIS TOPIC.
