A high court in Port Harcourt has fixed the 18th of June 2013 to hear a suit which seeks to restrain the Rivers State house of assembly from making any impeachment move against the Rivers State governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Justice George Omereji of the State High Court fixed the date following an oral application by 5-members of the Rivers State House of Assembly asking for independent representation in the matter.
The legal representative to the five lawmakers Chinwe Aguma told the court that his clients do not share the same interest with the leadership of the house led by the Speaker Otelemaba Dan Amachree.
Counsel to the Rivers State house of Assembly Emenike Ebete told correspondent Emeka Idika said the court will give all parties in the matter fair hearing.
