Bernie Sanders:
A Moonbeam of a
Political Suicide Mission? © 2016

If Bernie Sanders cannot get his way, he’s prepared to fly his political spaceship, with all of his followers aboard, into the Sun on a suicide mission.

It’s widely acknowledged that Bernie Sanders will not be the Democatic nominee for president in 2016. He just doesn’t have the delegates. Moreover, Sanders’ attacks on Hillary Clinton will not increase his chances of becoming the nominee. Yet, one thing his attacks will do is help Donald Trump.

When Sanders attacks Clinton, and when Trump attacks Clinton, she’s getting it from both sides, and it is Trump who benefits.

To win the presidential race in November, Democrats must unite and stay focused on defeating Trump.

Protesting against Trump and what he stands for is a good thing. But voting in November is even better.

Democrats need to see Sanders for what he is, an opportunist. He’s not a Democrat, but he is running on a Democratic platform. His attacks on Hillary Clinton do not help him, they help Trump. Sanders is a moonbeam on a political suicidal mission that will help the Republicans and Trump--the very opposite of what he claims he wants to do.

Like Trump, Sanders is on an ego trip. It's all about him. He's also a loser who hasn't solved any issues, because he thinks he's always right, and he cannot work to build coalitions with others who don't share his views.

Sanders has been steadily attacking Clinton, claiming he would be a more electable candidate though he trails badly in the delegate count. By not uniting with her, Sanders is making it difficult for the Democrats to put forth a united front in the upcoming presidential election.

Without a united front, the Republicans, who are starting to unite behind Donald Trump, will have a better chance of electing Trump. Certainly, Sanders supporters and Clinton supporters have more in common with each other than with Trump. Why can’t Sanders’ supporters see that?

When you’re as idealistic as Sanders, you see things the way they should be, and you ignore more immediate realities. The immediate reality is that the election of Donald Trump would set the nation and progressive interests back for decades. But Sanders is so self-absorbed, he doesn’t get it.

Sanders and his supporters should take heed and learn from history. If you want Trump to be president, continue the infighting, the attacks on Clinton, and the refusals to unite
