Beware of a new generation of spam "truth" sites
By JIM STONE

There has been a recent appearance of "truth" web sites with really damning content, (that get you to stay on them reading) while they fill your computer with malware scripts that then get your computer to start using a ton of bandwidth that can't be explained.

If you hit a truth web site and it turns your screen gray with a check box before it will clear the screen to make it easily readable, don't check the box, just close the entire page down quickly, go back to where the link was, re-read the headline that got you to click into it, and accept it as truth.

I made the mistake of actually reading one such report, about a CNN reporter who ratted CNN out for accepting bribes from the government to lie about Trump, Obama, and Hillary (and back stab Trump) And the report appeared to be genuinely legit, but even with this ultimate secured laptop it manipulated Firefox into being naughty until a reboot. I am certain a hit to that web site with a Windows machine would have been permanent doom.

I usually hit the X to get a page to stop loading. The malware "truth" page managed to re-start 5 consecutive times after being told to stop loading 5 times. All of this within a minute or so, so I called it quits and closed the page. That did not stop things from loading and I had to power off and restart from the ROM chip to clear what that web site did. Most definitely if this laptop had a permanently writable space, the problems would not have been over after a reboot.

I will repeat: If you go to a truth site and suddenly your screen grays out and it demands you click to clear that gray screen, that is the key indicator that the web site is malicious. There are a few sites that will gray your screen that are not malicious but I have seen more than one that is malicious today, something new is afoot, close any web site that grays your screen IMMEDIATELY.
As far as I see it, even if a web site is not malicious, if it grays your screen it is being too pushy with something. That annoys me.
