The Austin Animal Center suggests avoiding the big box stores and holiday chaos of Black Friday and celebrate Black Fur Day at the center Friday, Nov. 27, when all adoption fees will be waived for any animal with black fur.
All pets adopted will include spay or neuter surgery, a microchip, ID tag and vaccinations – a package valued at more than $200. The usual adoption fee is $75.
The Austin Animal Center, 7201 Levander Loop will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 26, and will reopen Friday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Additionally, the Austin Animal Center also is promoting a donation drive for items needed for the pets such as toys, treats, jackets for large dogs and many more. Items can be dropped off at the Austin Animal Center daily. Also, the Friends of Austin Animal Center has set up an Amazon Wish list for items needed for the pets in the shelter. City shelter pet adoptions are available at the Austin Animal Center and the City’s dog overflow kennels at Town Lake Animal Center, 1156 W.
