Blaming an individual who has been a victim of sexual assault is one of the leading reasons why many suffer in shame and silence. There is an unfortunate tendency within our culture of attributing blame to the victim… “what did you do that gave them the idea…were you drinking…maybe you lead them on…” NO MORE! NOT ANYMORE! The absence of no is not an indication of consent. Unless you have received a CLEAR, EXPLICIT YEESSSS, from a sober, lucid individual of mental capacity and legal age, you do NOT have CONSENT and therefore would be committing an act of sexual assault.
