Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC's Meet the Press that he believes that the National Security Agency has been monitoring his communications, especially those with foreign leaders. Carter said he prefers to write by hand or type letters to foreign leaders and send them via the regular post. In an era when NSA employs a virtual army of sock puppets and shills who immediately debase any criticism of the intelligence agency by posting vicious attacks on social media sites, Carter has not been immune to the cyber-barrage.
Some charged that Carter lacked the proof of NSA surveillance, while others accused the former president of being a "conspiracy theorist."
