Chaffetz, Webster Run for Speaker, Boehner Delays Election

RUSH: Jason Chaffetz throws his name in the ring for House Speaker. He says that he's got 50 members of the House who say that the next Speaker should not come from the leadership, which Kevin McCarthy does, come from the leadership. So Chaffetz and also Daniel Webster, Florida, has thrown his hat in the ring.

Boehner just announced he's gonna move the leadership election, the meeting back to October 29th. I don't know what significance that has, but as always the case it was assumed that McCarthy was a shoo-in because he's the next in line, he's the leadership preference and so forth. People are saying, "Wait a minute, that's not gonna make that much difference." So Chaffetz has come along and says, "Exactly right. We need somebody from outside the current leadership to take over this gig, and that person is me," and he raised his hand, and he started campaigning for it. And Daniel Webster. No, I don't have a feel for this yet, how this is going to go.
