Forever.
That’s how long it seems the public has been hearing about Hillary Clinton’s emails when she was U.S. Secretary of State. Given the hoopla over her emails, you would think Ms. Clinton passed military secrets to the likes of China, ISIS, Russia, or Iran. But you would be completely wrong.
Despite the media frenzy and the Republican holier-than-thou accusations, no charges were filed, because no law was broken. But even after no charges were filed, both the Republicans and the media seem intent on squeezing every ounce of propaganda out of the story.
While the media was dogging Clinton about her emails, here’s a sampling of stories that involved Trump. But the media were too cowardly to cover these stories about.:
• His campaign manager’s involvement in extremely shady Russian financial deals.
• How Trump consistently lavished praised on Russian dictator Putin, while criticizing the American president.
• How Trump actually appealed to Russian hackers to hack his opponent’s campaign headquarters.
• How Trump offered what appeared to be a bribe to a state attorney general’s campaign fund just she was about to file tax violations charges. After the donation, the charges vanished.
Each one of those events involved Trump, and they deserved serious media follow-up. In addition, his refusal to release his tax returns also deserves investigative follow-up. But the media that once prided itself on investigative reporting has been reduced to pandering and bootlicking.
They’ve allowed themselves to be bullied by Trump, and they’ve allowed him to dictate terms during interviews. It’s a sad time for American journalism.
