E.L. Doctorow gave us the very best advice on writing: "Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." You don't have to see to the end of your book, or even the end of the next chapter. It does help to see to the end of the scene, though.
