Every year I go to the New York Reptile show and every year I leave a little worried. I go cause I am fascinated by all of the creatures God has given us but walking from the parking lot to the Expo and looking at the brown bags, cardboard boxes, and those little plastic containers you would usually get egg drop soup in filled with furry and scaley who knows what I worry. Most of you will just right these little guys off as gross and scary but they share the earth with us and although some are a little disturbing to look at you still must respect their right to live on this earth. There are many very reputable vendors that do take the time to TEACH & PREACH before they sell, and over the years I have witnessed some that have turned down sales because they felt the consumer would probably just killed the little creature. KUDOS to those vendors!! I personally owned many exotics and used them to teach children to respect these little guys! My living conditions changed and most had to be donated to an incredible mobile program in Massachusetts that does what I did but on a much larger scale. (Maybe one day I will do it again) but for now if you know of anyone with a reptile, insect or any type of exotic make sure they are being taken care of. Never talk down to anyone! Teach with HONEY, not Vinegar!
Be their voice, even if you feel they are creepy and crawly! If you get to know them, you may realize that they really aren't that bad and in fact, can be quite interesting!
