Hurricane Matthew is expected to track roughly parallel to the U.S. Southeast coastline, from Florida through South Carolina. This type of track makes it difficult to specify impacts on exact locations, The National Hurricane Center said. A deviation to the west could bring this major hurricane onshore, but a modest deviation to the east could keep hurricane-force winds offshore, NHC said. However, landfall doesn't need to occur for the storm to significantly impact land, The Weather Channel said. Life-threatening storm surge, power outages, strong winds, flooding and tornadoes are possible for the area. The storm is expected to be near Florida late Thursday into Friday, possibly lingering into early Saturday. Georgia and the Carolinas are expected to see impacts starting Friday.
