If your prescription insurance is offered through @CVS_Caremark and you have another option, such as through a spouse's insurance, please take it. (I will stipulate that it's possible my experience with them is somehow wholly unique...but I doubt it). This summer, just aftery employer changed to this company for drug coverage, I had to fill a prescription for my 8 year-old's migraines. There was some problem at the time, so in desperation, I paid for the script out of my pocket and was assured I could use a paper claim form and receipts to get reimbursed. I should say that Katie's prescription is not an exotic or unusual drug. Very standard stuff. Ever since then, @CVS_Caremark has set new record lows in customer service, giving me written confirmation when they receive documents and then denying that they received them, denying the claim outright and then reversing course. I've received correspondence that was absolutely unintelligible and directly contradictory to other correspondence they've sent. I've corresponded or called at least 10 different people at this company and not one single person -- not one -- has done their job. It's the worst customer service experience I've ever had...and I spent a summer in England. This has been going on since JULY. I'll need to refill Katie's prescription eventually and I'm afraid it will start all over again. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Georgia Insurance Commission, researching the CVS/Caremark corporate structure to find someone else to take this issue to, and researching my husband's prescription benefits so we can hopefully change. I usually try to avoid statements like this, but I'm going full Scarlett O'Hara on 'em...[shaking my fist at the sky] As God is my witness, I'll never use them again if I have any other choice, and I'll most certainly never set foot in a CVS drugstore again. I wanted you to know because I don't want this to happen to anyone else. If this kind of thing has happened to you, please consider filing a complaint with your state's insurance commissioner and any other consumer agency you can find. These companies get away with this -- and I think messing with the medication of a child in the hope that the parent will give up and they won't have to pay the claim is despicable -- because people don't complain or fight back.
