Just as I pour out water upon the thirsty Land and flowing water upon the dry ground, so shall I pour out my spirit upon your offspring and My blessing upon your progeny.

כִּי אֶצָּק מַיִם עַל צָמֵא וְנֹזְלִים עַל יַבָּשָׁה אֶצֹּק רוּחִי עַל זַרְעֶךָ וּבִרְכָתִי עַל צֶאֱצָאֶיךָ
ישעיהו מד: ג
kee eh-tzak ve-nose-leem ahl ya-ba-sha eh-tzok roo-khee al zar-eh-kha oo-beer-kha-tee al tze-tza-eh-kha
The Hebrew word for blessing (“Beracha”) is very similar as the word for a pool of water (“Breicha”). In God’s language, there are no coincidences, so how do we understand the connection between blessings and a pool? Just like a pool refreshes, nourishes and purifies, so too when we bless something, we raise it up spiritually.
