Kentucky School Censors Charlie Brown Christmas for Offensive Christianity

RUSH: Folks, I could do this one of two ways. I could do as deep in the weeds as this has gone since the Republican debate on Tuesday night, or I could cut through it all. I'm probably gonna do a combination of this. Just cut through it all and get to the bottom line that's really gonna matter when people go to the polls. I'm gonna go somewhat into the weeds and try to explain what really has gone on here, to the extent that you have been following it.

I wouldn't be surprised if a number of you just tuned this stuff all out. Once the media got in on this and was trying to find something to disqualify Cruz, it gets so... esoteric is not the word. It is substantive for people that are into the nuts and bolts of policy -- I don't mean to be putting it down. I'm not trying to relegate it to irrelevancy. It's very, very serious stuff. It's just that it can get confusing, and that doesn't service or help anybody if you just do nothing but confuse them. What I try to do is make the complex understandable.

But before we get to that, there's some other things here in the Stack of Stuff that actually go pretty well with the budget sellout. And when I say they go pretty well, it's actually not positive. Well, as long as that's gonna happen, some of this other stuff happening makes total sense, too. Try this. The latest Christmastime lunacy comes from Johnson County, Kentucky. The school district in Johnson County, Kentucky, has censored an elementary school presentation of A Charlie Brown Christmas. A Charlie Brown Christmas school presentation, elementary school, up to the sixth grade, young kids, has to be censored because it has been deemed to be too Christian.

The Johnson County, Kentucky, district "also ordered other schools to remove all religious references from their upcoming Christmas productions. At one school, 'Silent Night' was replaced with a Christmas version of the 'Whip/Nae Nae' song. ... Teachers at W.R. Castle Elementary School were directed to remove the moving scene where Linus shares the true meaning of Christmas by reading from the Gospel of Luke." Can't do that. That's offensive.

"Superintendent Tom Salyer confirmed to me that the entire passage was excised from the program after the district received a single complaint." One oddball, one kook, one busybody complained, and the entire production had to be censored, A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Three States Forced 9th Graders to Write Muslim Loyalty Oath

"Ninth-graders at Riverheads High School were given assignment to copy the Islamic creed known as shahada during world geography class." Wait 'til you hear this. This is the UK Daily Mail as well. "A lesson in calligraphy has caused an uproar among some parents at a Virginia high school when students were instructed to write a Muslim statement of faith that read: 'There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.'" Students were mandated to write that.

"The incident took place on Friday during a world geography class at Riverheads High School in Staunton. The lesson of the day focused on world religions, among them Islam. As part of the assignment, social studies teacher Cheryl LaPorte had her ninth-grade students copy a piece of Arabic text known as the shahada, which is the most common Islamic creed.
Recitation of the shahada in public is the first formal step in conversion to Islam. However, according to school officials, the ninth-graders were not asked to translate the statement or read it aloud. Students were also shown copies of the Koran, and female students were invited to try on a scarf as part of a lesson about the Islamic concept of modest dress."

But over there in Kentucky they are canceling A Charlie Brown Christmas because you must read from the gospel of Luke. But over here in Virginia, ninth graders are given the assignment to copy the Islamic creed known as the shahada, which is, "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." And doing this in public, the shahada, first formal step in conversion to Islam. Students were not asked to read it out loud yet, but that probably will come. One of the parents, Kimberly Herndon, accused the Riverhead social studies teacher Cheryl LaPorte of indoctrinating students into Islamic faith. School officials said that LaPorte's lesson was in line with the standards of learning in Virginia. Virginia now is the third state, in addition to Tennessee and Georgia, that has been caught instructing children to write the shahada, the conversion prayer to Islam, as part of the required course materials.

The ACJU -- that's the conservative alternative to the ACLU -- is suing to stop this and says that it is coming... Are you ready? You will not be surprised. The instruction for the students to read the Shahada and for female students to put on a scarf to learn what it is like to learn about modest dress -- the instruction, the mandate -- is coming from the federal Department of Education. The Regime. The Obama administration is requiring this. Or maybe it is more proper to say "suggesting" this.

So now, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia -- three states -- have been caught instructing children, ninth graders, to read the opening recitation that begins the conversion to Islam. Over here in Kentucky, Johnson County, they're censoring A Charlie Brown Christmas because there's Christianity in it. And people can't figure out why what's happening in the Republican presidential primary is happening?
