Miles Ahead:
The Movie, The Review © 2016

Miles Davis was one of America’s greatest musicians and composers. No doubt about it.
As you might expect, he had a huge fan base, and whenever diehard fans saw his likeness on a magazine cover or news story, they relished it.

Now there’s a movie out, called “Miles Ahead.” But it’s doubtful the movie will be as enjoyable as the features stories about Miles they may have read in “Downbeat,” “Jazziz,” or other publications.

Kudos to Don Cheadle for the effort, the time, and the money he put in for the project. But this is not a good movie.

Of course, If you’re a Miles fan, you’re probably hungry and grateful for any bone that’s been thrown about Miles. But this movie is so unbalanced. Miles is portrayed as this one-dimensional character who does nothing but curse and lash out at people.

You didn’t Miles' character interact with members of his bands nor did you see snippets of the kindness his band member spoke of. This movie was about Miles’ dark side, and it focused on the five-year period when he was in retirement.

This was hardly a positive, inspiring, or upbeat movie. The movie in a nutshell: Miles cursing, Miles lashing out. Miles doing drugs. Much of the movie was about that. Don’t waste your money.
