I believe they no longer have the ability to lure in true talent. The internet has completely trumped universities, corporations and institutions, and now anyone with a functioning brain is going towards a global independence model.
Once meshnet media channels are established, the mainstream media is completely finished. We will have live, and completely uncensored news 24/7 all around the world. Patents and corporate firewalls will also be useless with the advent of a decentralized encyclopedia system.
