New York Metro fire
Normally I won't mention things like this, because the fire (which really was massive) had nothing to do with any conspiracy. Here is what happened, and then I'll get to the punch line:
In New York, the subway system sometimes runs above ground on elevated tracks that are very far off the ground. I am sure you have seen movies where people in apartments, up on the 5th floor or higher are getting shaken by trains running past their apartment window - that happens in New York, and it was tracks in an area like that where this fire broke out.
Under this type of train track, there was a garden center with construction materials (probably something similar to a home depot but they did not say) and several large vehicles and cars. It caught fire big time, burned for hours and flames were going 100 feet in the air, under the train tracks. So it all got cooked so badly that the steel beams that hold the tracks up all warped and now New York has 4 damaged tracks that run side by side, that are elevated and a little less than 100 feet up. They need serious work.
Ok, so the New York Metro has a serious problem that is not their fault. LET'S SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES THE NEW YORK METRO TO RETURN TO NORMAL, WHILE THE DC METRO WHICH WAS NEVER HANDED SUCH A FATE SITS AND FLOUNDERS IN INCOMPETENCE AND CORRUPTION, STILL NOT RUNNING RIGHT AFTER NOTHING HAPPENED AT ALL.
I bet New York will have at least tolerable service returned within 3 days.
