No shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Today's Israel Inspiration
So much does God desire our prayers that He did not bring forth rain until Adam recognized the need and prayed for rain. To this day, Jews around the world include in their morning prayers a prayer for rain over the Land of Israel during its short rainy season. Israel truly depends on winter rainfall to refill the fresh drinking waters of Lake Kinneret and to saturate the parched fields after the long hot summer months. We are happy to report that Israel's rainy season is off to a blessed start; more rain has fallen in the past few weeks than is typical for the entire season!
