Obama's anti-ISIS coalition envoy John Allen to quit
Retired US Marine Gen. John Allen, who was selected by President Obama to lead his country's military efforts against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, announced on Tuesday that he plans to quit in November, along with his deputy Karin von Hipple. Sources close to the ex-general spoke of his frustration about the White House refusing him permission to deploy US special forces in Syria and Iraq to mark targets for air strikes.
