Protests have broke out in central Benin over yesterday's swearing in of fourteen local Government Chairmen elected from Saturdays Council Polls

An eyewitness of the protest this morning said the protesting Youths in their thousands blocked all entrants into the Kings Square chanting anti Government songs and asking that controversies surrounding the election be resolved before those elected are administered oath of office.

The protest took a different dimension when thugs led by a consultant to the state Government on revenue attacked the protesters with dangerous weapons inflicting serious wounds on them.
