Religion

Intolerance

go hand in hand © 2016

Religion is supposed to civilize mankind. It’s supposed to teach mankind to love, respect and do good by others. Unfortunately, religion today is used by scoundrels to wish harm on others, to justify violence against others and to feed hatred against others.

For example, a Christian television minister actually called for the assassination of a foreign leader. And Muslim extremists regularly plot to do violence to innocent civilians, witness what happened in Orlando. Given the state of religion today, John Lennon appeared positively visionary when he challenged us to imagine there’s no religion.

One would think religion encourages mankind to be outraged whenever and wherever senseless violence and hatred takes place. But many Muslims have selective outrage. They will violently protest cartoons disparaging Prophet Muhammad. And they have protested over stories allegedly about a Koran being flushed down a toilet.

Yet you rarely hear about Muslims protesting or showing outrage when their religion is used by extremists to commit a litany of terrorist acts.

Thousands of innocent civilians are murdered every day my Muslim extremists. But Muslims only seem to care when Muslim symbols are disparaged.

At the root of it all, is intorance, and a believe that their religion, their views are somehow superior. It is a type of religious bigotry. Muslims, in partnership with Christians and other religions need to join together to denounce religious bigotry no matter what it’s source.
