TV TRP ratings are calculated on fixed number of set-top boxes given to small number of selected people with special gadget to record how many users seeing which channel and for how long. Average is taken from the readings and a TV channel's popularity is arrived at. Works just like a sample survey in opinion poll.It has nothing to do with the rest of us watching or not watching any channel.We can safely say TRPs ratings are far from accurate reflection of the actual popularity of any TV channel or programme.
