: The roll call vote to formally nominate a presidential candidate at the Democratic National Committee is expected around 5 or 6 p.m. ET in Philadelphia. Hillary Clinton is set to officially become the first woman to be a major party's presidential nominee, but Bernie Sanders' delegates will also get the chance to back him in the state-by-state convention vote. In 2008, Clinton lost the Democratic primary to Barack Obama and halted the convention roll call to ask that Obama be approved by acclamation, The New York Times reports. Sanders' spokesman told The Washington Post that the campaigns are discussing having the Vermont delegation move to make her nomination unanimous after letting all the states have the chance to have their votes recorded.
