The senate has mandated its three committees on Army, Police and National Security and Intelligent to investigate alleged mass killing of civilians in Baga area of Borno state.

The senate President Senator David Mark gave the directive while reacting to the move by senator Maji Lawal to sponsor a motion on mass killing.

Senator Mark noted that the Federal Government has already ordered an investigation into the matter but that would not prevent the Upper from carrying an independent investigation.

The senate President also directed the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Azubike Ihejirika to call his men to order and ensure that they keep to the rule of the engagement.
