The storm expected to hit the U.S. East Coast this weekend is being described as "textbook" by meteorologists, bringing heavy snow and strong winds to the region. The National Weather Service said Washington, D.C., could see more than 18 inches of accumulation. Slate reports that weather models for the D.C. area have been consistent and the heaviest snow should begin on Friday evening and continue through Saturday. New York City could see a foot of snow, but it depends on how north the storm moves, Slate reported. The storm will peak in New York City on Saturday afternoon and continue until Sunday morning. Southern New Jersey to Eastern Maryland could see coastal flooding this weekend, and North Carolina is at risk of an ice storm Friday into Saturday, The National Weather Service said.
