While Turkey's military claims to have seized control of the country, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the uprising will be unsuccessful and called on the people to gather in the streets. There are reports of military aircraft attacking buildings in the capital of Ankara, and aircraft was earlier seen over Istanbul. The Anaturk Airport also appears to be blocked by military personnel. There are also images on social media of people gathering outside waving Turkish flags. It is unclear where Erdogan is right now, but he made a statement through a phone call on TV. The New York Times also notes that it's unclear how much of the country's forces remain loyal to him. -
