Reliable Allies Needed

Why Western countries seem to prefer sharia-ruled, backward, fake kingdoms (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.) and genocidal dictatorships (Turkey) over democracies (Rojava)?

I think western countries are surely not against liberties, nevertheless their main goals are pragmatism and survival not justice and liberty.

Theses countries need first to feed their population, they need first to survive economically in a very hard world.

Then they will fight first for resources (oil, minerals, economic opportunities, military bases, etc.) and maybe afterwards they will fight for liberties. Here the Turkish and Saudi resources are far more interesting than the Rojavan and Syrian ones, I think.

Therefore I think Rojava need to be pragmatic and realistic as well (because nobody in the world will fight solely for liberties). If it want to survive Rojava needs to find more reliable, less pragmatic, allies.
