@transatlantic @mtwirth Defamation = intentionally publishing lies to destroy another's reputation. That *should* be against the law, and every country has such laws, definitely including DE? US def. laws are, however, extremely favorable to press. Public figures must prove 'actual malice' to win lawsuit, truth is *always* a defense. Unlike in Germany, 'Beleidigung' simply does not exist, period. US law does not permit any seizure or censorship of books/magazines, ever, for any reason. Even if you win defam. lawsuit (rare), you can only get $$ compensation.
