Gandhi did not celebrate India's freedom because he was busy calming hindu and muslims in Naokhali that time. A muslim attacked to kill him and got him by the throat, but was surprised to see Gandhi reciting "suras" from Quran...He asked for forgiveness and then Gandhi told him to not tell anybody what he tried to do, otherwise hindus will get a chance to massacre muslims.
