Ill-heath at the Home -- preventable

Money was donated for a special lunch at the Christian Reformed Church retirees' home in Sri Lanka.

Matron Nelum Gunasekera asked for our preferences and I mentioned boiled rice, vegetable and sea food.

However, she insists as usual on ordering chicken though that meat contains growth hormones and antibiotics.

This issue of steroid-filled chicken and eggs affects many people. About the most disastrous item placed on the table is poultry offal. Unsaleable intestines and skin are minced together with flour paste and sold as 'meat balls.' See advertisement at --

Broiler poultry producers use TV and other media for advertising to housewives and to children. Producers' influence may be seen in country newspapers --

Some of the consequences in 2019 at the CRC's Brohier Memorial Home 62/1, Galle Road, Wellawatte,

Resident Lancelot Fernando developed a prostate condition and expired. Charles Gomes expired. Leonard Felcianes receives treatment for cancer. Resident Jansz has developed leukaemia.

π™π™π™š 𝙂π™ͺπ™–π™§π™™π™žπ™–π™£ newspaper cites a study by UK's Bureau of Investigative Journalism. It finds that hundreds of tonnes of π™˜π™€π™‘π™žπ™¨π™©π™žπ™£, described as an antibiotic of last resort, have been shipped to India for the routine treatment of animals, chiefly chickens, on farms.

"The finding is concerning because the use of such powerful drugs can lead to an increasing resistance among farm animals around the world. π˜Ύπ™€π™‘π™žπ™¨π™©π™žπ™£ is regarded as one of the last lines of defence against serious diseases, including pneumonia, which cannot be treated by other medicines. Without these drugs, diseases that were commonly treatable in the last century will become deadly once again."

In Australian "factory farms, it’s legal to keep tens of thousands of chickens in a single shed. From the time they’re put there as tiny chicks to the day they’re caught and killed, the litter under them will not be cleaned. Because bird waste is acidic, this build-up of ammonia can then cause painful burns on their bodies – and a build-up can make it difficult for a person to breathe within only a few minutes. "

The staff of the home avoid broiler chicken and egg because they have seen the effects that make residents sick.

Through negligence Matron Nelum Gunasekera harms residents.

Please investigate the slow, ongoing sequence of slaughter at the Christian Reformed Church facility.
