To all the people using social media,
only a few moments ago DHA news agency has confirmed live during CNNTURK programme DÖRT BIR TARAF, that the police has arrested 16 people today in Izmir who were charged with postings on their Twitter account. It has been reported that the police tracked down their IP Addresses and arrested these people from their homes. Similar things have happened before, so this is not new in Turkey.
However, it show that Erdogan, who clearly formulated his dislike for social media, is indeed trying to control it through its police force. It would mean that Erdogan will continue his policy of fear and repression and he will not listen to the people on the streets who are protesting for their freedom and for real democracy. With so many journalists, students or philosophers who have been imprisoned, the gouvernment and PM ERDOGAN seems to continue this unrestrained tyranny.
To all the people who use twitter and Facebook, please do not be afraid, do not stop to spread the news whilst all news agencies are silent (today they have partly began to report). Take pictures, shoot videos and share them with the entire world. See what we have created within only a couple of days, you have seen our power, you have seen our will. Do not give in now! Also please show your parents who may not know and tell them how twitter and facebook works so they can all participate.
Also there was a FB site called fb.com/occupy-turkey with more than 80.000 fans yesterday. It has gone offline today without any explanation and Facebook is now automatically redirecting to fb.com/occupyturkey which is a totally different site. Does anybody have information about this? This could be very important news as well!
