Bob.
We British have much to be proud of. Fair play, supporting third world charities, world class inventors and World War Two when our country stood alone against fascism until the USA were dragged in to help. We also have much to be ashamed about. As an Englishman I am ashamed of how my country has treated your country in the past. I am amazed sometimes at how friendly Irish people are in general towards the British considering the history between our countries. We should never have colonised Ireland, that is clear. We can oly live in the present, as we find it.
