@ramonasinger @averysinger I love hearing all your mother/daughter stories - you two are as close as my Mom and I were. She was my best friend and I miss her so much. I took care of her for almost 30 years and every task I did for her was another blessing because it was proof she was still here with me. Seeing or reading about the love between you two makes the lonely places in my heart feel a little bit warm again. Thank you.
@SonjatMorgan - just watching reruns of RHONY to catch up to present (I couldn't afford cable TV the last two years but recently found a free internet TV service so plan on catching up) and I just wanted to tell you that you truly are a source of light on this planet.
No matter what trials and tribulations come your way, you stay standing up and in full possession of who you are and you just keep on keepin' on. You inspire me to not let my own traumas knock me down for the count.
You have that positive effect on other people and that's what makes you a source of light.
Just wanted to take the time to tell you that.
You probably won't remember but, you once responded to a tweet I made about my mother and I being stranded alone in a dark parking lot. You were very kind. I lost my Mom almost three years ago now. She was truly my best friend.
Anyway, you keep believing in yourself and all your ventures. You must surely know your successes in Life help nudge the rest of us to nudge our own selves along toward our own version of success.
When you show rock solid evidence you were telling the truth and the person still wants to call you a liar it means they always had an agenda and truth never really was important to them, not really. And in hiding that agenda from you, they become the real liar. Two things: Don't try to figure it out because your time is more precious than that. And, don't ever trust or rely on that person again. If possible, avoid such a toxic person.
@cher @ye4hbruh - love your looks Cher - I wanted to BE you in the 60's - I even bought your ruffled bell bottoms - YOUR Mom made me taste yogurt for the first time ever in my life at the Teenage Fair at the Hollywood Palladium - you are one beautiful human, inside and out - just another fan here.
@PDI_CHILE I need to report a crime to the police in Santiago. I am an American citizen located in Los Angeles. I want to report my husband who I married in April 27, 1973 for the crimes of fraud and bigamy. How do I do that from Los Angeles? My husband is a citizen of Chile and resides in Santiago where he owns a business. I do not think his bigamous second wife is aware that she's not really married. He is ruining both our lives.

INSPIRATION FOR WRITERS: House for sale, complete with skeleton
A Swedish real estate agent has an unusual piece of property up for sale: a five-bedroom house, complete with medieval tomb and skeleton in the cellar.
WRITING CHALLENGE: Tell us a little something more about these folks...
You are in line to check out at the supermarket. You notice the guy currently being checked is buying every knife the place sells, all sizes, every single one. His shopping cart is filled with knives.
----------
At a wedding reception, a bridesmaid is deliberately stepping on the long veil of the happily dancing bride.
----------
A child stands alone in front of school as other children are being picked up by car pooling parents. He is completely ignored by the other children and adults.
-----------
The "bag" lady pushing the shopping cart loaded up with filled garbage bags is wearing expensive shoes and jewelry.
----------
An entire family is found, in their station wagon located in the parking lot of a Las Vegas luxury resort, in what seems to be a catatonic state or state of "suspended animation." Mom, Dad, kids, all of them with eyes open but nobody's home.
This website offers well,... I'll let you check it out. It is meant as a for-profit business, but just the brief descriptions of what they offer and some of their free "samples" might spark some story ideas or start the creative juices flowing.
WRITING CHALLENGE: HELP WANTED: Mysterious Creature
You live in a small town or rural area that needs a great infusion of economic development... money, in other words. So you and the rest of the townsfolk decide to invent a monster. It's sure to attract tourism.
But how do you keep up the illusion? What sorts of manufactured evidence is the town able to produce to attract the right sort of investigator? How do you go about grabbing headlines?
What complications result? Think on a personal level for individual characters as well as for the town. Does greed factor in?
And what if a character discovers something real? What if incidents begin to occur? What if things get genuinely scary? What or who is behind it?
1. You are a high school student and you are in your Biology lab when the School Nurse arrives to inform the teacher that no one is allowed to leave the classroom. Why? What happens next?
2. You are sitting at a bar when the person in the seat next to you asks you to watch their stuff while they go to the bathroom. They leave their cell phone on the bar. It rings. What do you do? If you decide to answer it, who is on the line and how does your conversation go?
3. A woman approaches you in a public place (public restroom, shopping mall, gas station, you make it up) and says she is being pursued by a dangerous ex-whatever (husband, boyfriend, etc.). She asks for your help. What do you do? What happens next?
4. You are watching "America's Most Wanted" and you recognize a very respected and most extremely popular co-worker as a wanted suspect. What do you do?
5. You are at a public function and you are suddenly put on the spot, asked to give a toast to someone you despise or have no respect for at all. What do you say?
6. A delivery company has mistakenly left a large package from your most favorite store in the whole world on your front porch. The package should have gone to a neighbor who has not been very nice to you. Do you open it or do you call the delivery company to tell them they made a mistake? If you open the package, what's inside?
7. You wake up one morning to see that you are the only "live action" human being left on the planet and everyone and everything else is a cartoon. Describe what you see and what you do and what you are thinking and feeling.
8. You discover that you have the power to "miniaturize" other people and things and can put them in mini-ecosystems like snowglobes. Do you use that power? Who would you miniaturize and what sort of environment would you create for them?
9. You become aware that you have some kind of psychic connection to a best-selling author because everything you begin to write, they do it too and make megabucks doing it. They are your psychic vampire, feeding off your ideas. What do you do about it?
10. You are at a convention or gathering of your peers and you stand up to give the keynote address only to realize that you have a powerful urge to fart. You know it's coming. What do you do?
Create such a character. Who are they? What is their history, what brought them to this point where they must fake their own death? WHY are they doing this? What do they hope to gain? How do they go about it? What are they going to do that will absolutely convince family, friends, employer, coworkers, community, AND the authorities that they are dead and gone? Or is one or more of those groups in on the scheme? WHY?
Details, details... we want details...
"The Running Man," starring Laurence Harvey and Lee Remick was one of my favorite "faked death" movies.
Pick three colors - any three colors. Now, create a character and put them in a circumstance where each of those three colors plays a role in defining that character and/or the "circumstance" that starts your story and/or how your character overcomes adversity and is changed by the end of your story.
Example:
Colors: Red, Yellow, Blue
Character: Squiggles the Clown
Squiggles tries to hide it from his fellow circus performers but he has a deep psychological terror over the color Yellow. Something happened to him as a child that now forces him to associate the color Yellow with that horrible memory.
Squiggles loves Blue. In fact, he loves the color Blue so much, he painted the entire inside of his trailer Blue. It fights the Yellow in this world. Blue makes him feel safe.
Red is the color of pretty flowers and brand new bicycles but Red is also the color of what happens to little boys when they go into the Yellow.
Veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has broken some massive stories in his day, but uncovering secret societies within the highest echelons of America's military would probably be the biggest of his career.
WRITING CHALLENGE: The Kitchen List
I made a list of ten things I could see in my kitchen. You can use my list (below) or make your own list of ten things found in a room of your house.
Use the ten items in a story, screenplay scene, paragraph, or any other writing form that pleases you to do one or more of the following:
Play a practical joke
Create a spy thriller
Commit a murder
Help a woman have a baby
Prolong a life (until help arrives)
Make a science project
Steal something
get revenge
prove someone's innocence
weave into an episode of your favorite TV show
The challenge, of course, is that you must use all ten objects. You can add as many other objects or people or situations or conditions that you like, it is your writing, after all. But those ten specific items MUST be used. They can be crucial elements or simple things woven into your story. But they must be used. All of them.

From individual structures to entire communities, abandonments large and small inspire the imagination and tell us things about the past in a visceral way.
The opening scene of your novel should really be the opening scene. A novel is a sudden window opened to let us watch an arc of action from its initial to its closing phase. If you open the window too early, your readers have to drum their mental fingers waiting for the action to start. Open the window too late, and you'll find yourself desperately filling in with flashbacks and infodumps.
How do you know what action is the initial action? What is your story about? A young girl, suffocated by small-town life, deciding to head for the big city? Or a businessman at the end of his tether learning that, on top of everything else, he has cancer? Where do you start telling that story?
The temptation all too often is to begin by describing the people and setting for your readers, to soften us up so we'll understand the subsequent behaviour of your characters. Thus you have the young woman rant to a friend about the constrictions on her life, you show us the businessman's hectic treadmill existence for two dozen pages to make sure that we soak up its horror, in short, you spell everything out for us. You do this because you are anxious that we, the readers, won't understand, that we need to be conked over the head until we get it, that we are too narratively naïve to grasp what's going on unless it's counted out for us in baby language.
@TaylorArmstrong - you are blessed - such good friends surrounding you. It's extremely frightening to be all alone inside a nightmare. I guess I have no expectation that anyone "out there" knows I'm here but maybe I could pretend that you'll read http://richtweets.com/m8oa5 and I can also pretend there's somebody out there who cares. Thank you for that much. I already believe you are a good human being. You don't have to convince me of that.

@mccordalex @SonjatMorgan - best advice on Kelly is this: stay with Sonja's initial instincts from "Scary Island" - Kelly has defined her version of reality within extremely specific and well-entrenched parameters - if you cannot play her reality by her rules, you are better off staying on your side of the looking glass - Alex, stop trying to make sense of or intellectualize your conversations with Kelly because she cannot function on that level - expecting her to do so is too harsh for her - she simply cannot do it. Allow that you are not dealing with a normal grown woman. Treat her more gently and step around her and keep moving. Sonja, you must understand that Kelly's uncalled-for remarks about your house or your lifestyle were the remarks of a small child but they were coming out of a grown woman's mouth. At the reunion, you were attempting to make the grown woman understand how what she did was wrong. But... that grown woman does not exist. Again, step around the child as she throws her word tantrums and keep moving on with the goodness in your own life. Alex and Sonja, you cannot change someone else's perception of reality. You can only choose to not let it affect your own reality.

@PaulaAbdul - honestly? Trying to figure out how to eat until my next Disability check. That's what I'm doing. Aside from that, putting away more of my Mom's things. She's been gone 18 months and I'm 60 years old and I still feel naughty going through my Mom's stuff.
#whendiditbecomecool to be an anti-semite? A lot of anti-semitic "activists" are supporting terrorists like Hamas but these so-called activists would be first to be executed under Hamas rule. The free and easy lifestyle enjoyed by many Westerners would not be tolerated under Hamas. Do these activists really hate Jews THAT much that they would support terrorists who would actually kill them if they had a chance? Why yes, that's exactly what they are doing. There's only one country in the middle east where democracy is revered and all religions are respected and protected, women elevated, gays protected and that country is Israel.
Here's Your Problem @SimonvanKempen and @mccordalex - Alex, you approach the world from a frame of reference of logic and intellect - it's even in the cadence of your speech - and you give credit to all you encounter and communicate with that they are doing exactly the same thing. This may come as a bit of a shock, dear Alex, but... the world doesn't operate that way. People have their feelings and emotional triggers or buttons and most don't reflect on their own intellectual integrity and if you could even suggest such a thing to them, they'd give you a blank stare as in, "Huh??? What the hell is she talking about?"
I've seen you go into meetings and conversations with some of the other characters on RHONY and you are like a lamb to the slaughter. They trounce right past any valid point you might be making because you must be consigned to the little box where they've assigned you just so that you can be dismissed. To actually respond to you would require them to interact at the higher ground which is not their natural comfort zone. It's much easier to stick a label on you and react on a purely emotional level to that assigned label rather than see - and deal with - the real you.
They simply are not capable of any other kind of behavior although I do see that Jill recognizes there's work to be done. Some of the other ladies will only ever be in their bubble where they control all circumstances and anything that threatens that gets booted from the bubble. Posthaste.
Or haven't you ever noticed a certain tendency to prejudge certain individuals before they've even opened their mouths to speak and yet, no small amount of faux paus or downright bitchiness is forgiven on the part of others (whose own bubble existence is perceived as non-threatening)?
Give up. You want to yank folks into the light but it's rather impossible. If they don't want to go there, you'll only foment more excuses to define you as one-not-to-be-respected. Their respect never mattered in the first place, dear Alex. Yeah, I know you care. That's your burden to bear.
And Simon, you give off an energy or "vibe" that your approach or energy likewise comes mainly from your brains and not from your gonads. Just because you are not a hot bubbling mess of testosterone when you interact with the world, some folks say that sets off the "gaydar" and it's simply ludicrous. You don't need to care one whit what anyone says or thinks on that subject and I know that you already know that. But, I detect that you don't quite get why people would say such things in the first place. You don't lead with your sweaty balls, my dear, and that's the issue. Of course, it's not really YOUR issue, is it? You seem like a fellow who follows his own path and listens to his own drummer. Onward, brave Simon. You don't need to justify or apologize or feel encumbered by anyone else's peculiar attitudes. You are your own man. Stay that way.
