In spite of the 'no inflammatory comment order', the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, boasted on Monday that nobody could intimidate the President into not contesting in 2015.
"The 1999 Constitution gives Mr. President the right to offer himself for second term if he so chooses and no individual or group can abridge his constitutional right. If he decides not to contest, let it be on his own volition not because he is intimidated or cajoled into doing that, " he told State House correspondents in Abuja.
Gulak, who added that peace was gradually returning to the party, said that Tukur would survive the crises.
He said, "The national chairman has no problem. He was elected and I always say that as there are processes for election, there are processes for removal or resignation. So nobody can cajole anybody to say the national chairman will not survive. Nobody is against the national chairman."
The Presidential aide dismissed claims that the crisis would mark the end of the ruling party, saying it (PDP) has internal mechanism for resolving its problems
"We have entered into dialogue.Peace is gradually returning to the PDPin accordance with the constitution of the party and in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These two documents are our guides. We abide by them and we dialogue in accordance with the provision of the constitution," he said.
Gulak explained that thePresident would consider the demands of the aggrieved governors based on the constitution
He also said that the President would never ask the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission not to perform its duties
REVEALED: The Deal Between Jonathan and Rebel Governors
More facts have emerged on the Sunday night meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and aggrieved governors in the New Peoples Democratic Party.
Presidency sources made this known just as Jonathan met behind closed doors with some PDP governors loyal to the Bamanga Tukur-led National Working Committee of the party.
One of the sources at the Sunday meeting, said that the President and the other attendees discussed and agreed on five contentious issues: Amaechi's suspension by the Tukur-led NWC; control of the PDP structure at the state level; Jonathan's alleged 2015 ambition; Tukur's fate and court cases.
On Amaechi, the parties agreed that he should be recalled and that a committee be constituted to visit Port Harcourt and reconcile all aggrieved members of the PDP in the state.
The governor was suspended on June 21 for his alleged refusal to "obey the lawful directive of the Rivers State Executive Committee to rescind his decision dissolving the elected Executive Council of Obiokpor Local Government Area of the state."
The meeting also accepted that all the governors of the party, including the aggrieved ones, should be in charge of the State Working Committees of the party in their respective states.
It was further learnt that since the governors were to be in charge of the party structures in their states, President Jonathan should determine the fate of Tukur, who all the aggrieved governors want removed.
Our source said that "the President argued that since it had been accepted that he should not interfere in the running of the party at the state level, he should be allowed to determine what would happen to its national chairman (Tukur)."
He added that the meeting, which was also attended by three pro-Tukur governors -Godswill Akpabio(Akwa Ibom), Idris Wada(Kogi) and Liyel Imoke (Cross River State)- agreed that all pending court cases concerning the party must be withdrawn immediately.
Amaechiis therefore expected to withdraw a case in which he is challenging his suspension. Also, numerous cases filed by members of the New PDP and the Tukur-led PDP will also be discontinued.
It was gathered that Jonathan's 2015 ambition, generated heated arguments as the aggrieved governors insisted that he had told them that he would not run for a second term.
According to our source, the President argued that there was no time he told anyone that he would not contest for second term.
It was gathered that Jonathan specifically accused one of the aggrieved governors,Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, of misleading Nigerians on the 2015 debate.

Aliyu was said to have told the President he had said at different fora that he was not going to seek re-election.
"The governor listed Ethiopia, United States and different caucus meetings of the party where the President made the statements," our source added.
When argument on the issue raged, theChairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP , Chief Tony Anenih, who was also present at the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, interjected and advised that it should be suspended for a latter date.
The source said, "It was a give and take meeting, but at the end of the day,we agreed that the issue of 2015 should be revisited and resolved amicably.
"I can tell you that the meeting was very frank . We all spoke our minds, including the President and his deputy (Namadi Sambo). So, we wait to see the implementation of the resolutions reached."
The other aggrieved governors, who were also pillars of the New PDP at the meeting wereAmaechi (Rivers), Rabiu Kwankwanso (Kano), Murtala Nyaho (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), and Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara).

ENTERTAINMENT: Blackface reacts to Tuface’s alledged wedding invitation
am in Music
Against the backdrop of the recent interview where 2face alleged he had invited Blackface to his wedding,Blackface has reacted in an interview with Abuja based radio station Hotfm stating that 2face keeps avoiding him for reasons best known to him.
He says he’s been trying to get across to 2face to talk about his song African queen that has been sang by a Jamaican artist in the US without the right to do so…’ if someone sings that song it means someone gave out the right ’he keeps avoiding me cos he doesn’t want to talk about these issues.
Blackface, Tuface
For the wedding ‘he would have put the blame on his management and called me or something’ but till today since he returned from his wedding in Dubai, he hasn’t called me, my uncle whose house we stayed throughout the days of our musical career passed away during the time of his traditional marriage, then the white wedding he never called to even ask about my uncle or to sympathize with me, so there must be something wrong somewhere …it must be about the music money.
In any case Blackface has a new single titled ‘see you move’ enjoying airplay on some radio stations across the country.
C-R-A-C-K-S: New PDP National Treasurer Quits, Pledges Loyalty To Tukur-Led PDP
The new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) led by Alhaji Abubakar Baraje suffered a blow to its cause as the National Treasurer, Alhaji Tanko Isiaku Gwamna resigned from the faction’s National Working Committee and re-pledged his allegiance to the Bamanga Tukur-led national leadership of the PDP.
This is just as the “new PDP” said it was not surprised by Gwamna’s action.
This resignation is contained in a press statement he issued in Abuja on Sunday.
Gwamna said he resigned after a careful study of the unfolding events in the polity, and a deep reflection of the consequences of such impasse on the party.
“This decision was arrived at after a careful study of the unfolding events in the polity and a deep sober reflection of the consequences of the outcome of such impasse on our party,” he said.
Gwamna said as a lover of democracy, he is of the belief that the impasse if allowed to fester, will threaten the unity, peace, progress and prosperity of the party in particular, and the nation in general.
He therefore, pledged his loyalty to the Tukur-led PDP while enjoining all party faithful to unite and ensure the current crisis is amicably resolved.
“Our desire is for the PDP to continue to lead while others follow, as such, we must eschew all vices capable of unnecessarily heating up the polity.
“I pledge my loyalty to the Bamanga Tukur leadership, while calling on all party faithful to do same,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, in its reaction to his resignation from their faction of the party, spokesman for the ‘New PDP,’ Eze Chukwuemeka Eze said they were not surprised by Gwamna’s resignation as they had suspected him all along of being a mole planted by the Tukur faction.
Eze said upon realising that Gwamna was in talks with the government, they had already found a replacement in Engineer Abubaka Umar from Taraba State, who would soon be sworn in as the national treasurer.
He urged members of the “new PDP” not to be deterred by the resignation, adding that such was not unexpected in the pursuit of noble causes as victory does not come easy.
|You'll Not Believe Why These Cultists Killed A 24-Year-Old|
Two suspected cultists, Nicodemus Jeremiah and Abideen Muniru have been arraigned in court for allegedly a 24-year-old Dike Onyeani by shooting him on his head at Amosu Igboro, in the Ijanikin area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the two accused, who were members of the Eiye Confraternity, had allegedly been disturbing the deceased to join the cult group.
The deceased who however rejected the invitation was said to have been abducted by some members of the group on the 14th of August 2013.
He was said to have been later shot in the head with a locally made pistol.
The accused were arrested after people living around the scene of the incident informed the police and they were arraigned on two counts of murder.
The charges read in part, "That you, Nicodemus Jeremiah, Abideen Muniru, and others now at large on the 14th day of August, 2013 at about 8.50pm at Amosu Igboro Area, Ijanikin Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony, to wit, murder."
The prosecutor, Sergeant Cousin Adam, said the offences were punishable by Sections 231, 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011.
The defendants' pleas were not taken.
Adam applied that the defendants be remanded in prison custody pending the advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The defence counsel, O.O Sanu however said there was no ground to remand the defendants.
He said, "The law provides that there must be probable cause for remand. The charge against the defendants is murder, whereas the police, in Form K attached to the charge, said they did not find any exhibit, no fingerprints evidence and no confessional statements."
He said the police were only relying on eye witnesses' account which was not enough to sustain the murder charge.
Sanu said the court should strike out the matter as the ground for murder was non-existent.
The prosecutor, however, said one of the accused confessed to the crime, adding that the error in the form was caused by the Investigating Police Officer.
The magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, however, said there was probable cause for remand.
She remanded the defendants in prison pending the DPP's legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till October 14.
Embarrased by the alleged unethical practises by its workforce, the NPF @ngpolice have dismissed two female traffic wardens for alledgely extorting money from a commercial bus driver in lagos. The women, corporals elizabeth Itolor and Jennifer Azingbe, attached to the Makinde Divisional headquarters of lagos state command, were caught with camera lens while negotiating and eventually collecting N100 from a driver.
Police Public Relations officer, lagos state command Ngozi Braide, a deputy superitendent of police, confirmed the development but declined further comment..
“My advice to them is that they should wait until President Goodluck Jonathan completes his second term since by divine providence; the zoning has automatically fallen on the South-South. God zoned the presidency to the South- South.”
Continuing, he said: “The North whose definition I am not too sure includes the Middle Belt, should wait until the person whom God has given the presidency completes his tenure and as soon as he completes his second term one can now argue that the turn should now come to the North.”
Jonathan: Battle ready?
In a seeming indication of the internal political battle that would arise in the North in the future when the presidency eventually returns to that section of the country, Ebute chipped in, “and that North should include all the zones in the North, not only the North-West. We have other zones in the North, but some people are now arguing or defining North as if it means only the North-West.”
That point was also reiterated by Senator Bwacha thus: “These are individual opinions. But irrespective of whatever anybody is saying, I am a Northerner and I can tell you the preponderance of opinions, that an average Northern minority wants Jonathan to continue in 2015. If those Northerners, who were saying Mr. President cannot continue, like Ango Abdullahi are expressing our opinions, I wouldn’t be saying something different.”
Dr. Abduljhalil Tafawa-Balewa from the core north in Bauchi State asked of his own inclinations towards a second term for Dr. Jonathan said: “You can count on me. I will vote for him. There has never been any Nigerian President since independence until now, that has done so well in appointing women who constitute half of our population to (positions) in ministries and embassies across the world. Terrorism as many people don’t seem to notice often takes a long time before it is calmed down.”
Stride of comments
Senator Ebute finally dismisses assertions that the stride of comments from Prof. Abdullahi is representative of the whole north. He said: “I am not a member of the Arewa Consultative Forum or Northern Elders’ Forum, whether he is speaking for the members of the Arewa Consultative Forum or Arewa Elders Forum it is left for Ango Abdullahi.”
“I don’t know anything that is happening in those organizations but I assure you that apart from the members of the Arewa Consultative Forum and Northern Elder’s Forum there are millions of other Northerners that believe in the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. So when one person representing a few people being funded by the governors and holding press conferences virtually every day is putting up his own ideas, you cannot say that the ideas are the thoughts of everybody within the North.”
“So I don’t know whether Ango Abdullahi is speaking on behalf of the people he has been speaking for. I am not in the position to say that.
In the midst of the ensuing battle for the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP , is the unfolding rancour in the North over the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan for another term in office.
BY EMMANUEL AZIKEN, POLITICAL EDITOR
CHIEFTAIN of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Professor Ango Abdullahi was trenchant in dubbing President Goodluck Jonathan a good student of former President Olusegun Obasanjo especially on matters concerning agreements in a recent radio interview. Speaking on a Liberty Radio, Kaduna interview, the emerging champion of a northern presidency, however, failed to buttress his argument with the facts of the alleged agreement that has been the subject of much controversy.
“When Obasanjo wanted an extension of tenure for a second term under the zoning arrangement, he had to come to an extended caucus of the PDP. I remember how people opposed the idea. The late Abubakar Rimi was one of them and he was supported by about three others that Obasanjo should not be given an extension and that the Presidency should come to the North for four years before going back to the South,” he said of the PDP caucus where the then president was adopted for a second term in late 2002.
Continuing, Abdullahi said:“Eventually, about 37 people out of the about 41 present voted for the extension for Obasanjo to have a second term. Now coming to why we should not trust people who renege on promises, Obasanjo was the first to deny that there was a zoning that brought him to power. He did that and kept doing it and it is most likely it was from him that they learnt what they are doing because he was instrumental to Jonathan becoming Vice President.
“So, Jonathan must be Obasanjo’s student on matters of zoning because he himself kept saying, when we were arguing that Jonathan rightly became the President of the country when Yar’Adua died, this is what the constitution allows’ and in fact insisted on it and nobody begrudged that.”
Atiku …and the rebel governors
Prof. Abdullahi’s assertions nonetheless, a cross section of Northern leaders have come out to differ with him on the eligibility or otherwise of the incumbent president running for another term in 2015. The internal debate within the North has raised speculations of a possible irreversible split in the once formidable political hegemony in the North.
Among those who have differed with Ango Abdulahi on the issue are former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Mohammed Abba-Gana; former president of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute; Dr. Jalili Tafawa Balewa, a son of the country’s first and only prime minister, Alhaji Tafewa Balewa; Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, PDP, Taraba; Gen. Lawrence Onoja among others. The division in the North is reinforced by the support the president is equally having in some sections of the South-his support base in that section of the country.
Asserting that the North as a body is not against the president running for another term of office, Abba-Gana in an interview with newsmen in Lagos said: “It is not true. The North is not against President Jonathan because there are several well respected northern leaders the media may not know who are supporting him.”
Remarkably, the Jonathan 2015 project is also helping to further sharpen the divide in the once united North. While elements from the core North like Prof. Abdullahi have been sharp in demanding the return of the presidency to the North, a sub-set of the North representing mostly the Christian non-Hausa-Fulanis has been largely unmindful in the emerging debate. Indeed, some from that section otherwise dubbed as the northern minority have come forward to plead for a second term for Dr. Jonathan.
Many of the leaders from that... <<<<<< N.B from Jumbotweet: auto-truncated at 4K characters on index page - Click here or on the "view" link to see entire jumbotweet! http://www.jumbotweet.com/ltweets/view/14811

The idea is to not stick to a set order, and keep experimenting.
4. Find a Hobby
Keep yourself enthused by learning something different. Try to hone a skill or develop a new one. He said: “There is a strong suspicion that since the Presidency was uncomfortable with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who brought Ashiru into the cabinet, the minister’s days were numbered. In spite of the mediatory role of Obasanjo in PDP crisis, the position of the Presidency was that he had only attempted to clear the mess he created. Ashiru might just be a scape-goat.
“As for the Minister of Environment, Hadiza Mailafia, the tempo of political situation in Kaduna requires a change of guard.”
President Jonathan shocked the sacked ministers as he did not betray any emotions at the FEC meeting.
A Presidency source said: “We all went in with the usual exchange of banters. The President and his deputy and a few others came late but we did not suspect anything.
“After honouring a star athlete, Blessing Okagbare, we went into the business of the day with most of the nine ministers making contributions, oblivious that they would go.
“As we were about to say the closing prayers, the President said: ‘I wish to inform you that some ministers will be attending this FEC meeting for the last time there will be some changes; some will be dropped.’
“A pin-drop silence overwhelmed the Executive Chambers as he was reading the names in a military fashion.
“After the list was read, the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, said the closing prayers.
President Goodluck Jonathan sacked nine ministers yesterday – in a shocking move that sparked questions on the motive of the action.
Five factors accounted for the ministers’ sack, The Nation learnt.
According to highly-placed sources in government, some of the reasons are: non-performance; security reports on alleged corruption; political allegiance and doubtful loyalty to the President; poor management of turn-key projects; and the crisis in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
A source, who pleaded not to be named because of the “sensitivity” of the matter, said: “You will recall that the President asked the ministers to sign a performance bond. About four of the nine ministers failed to live up to expectations in the assessment of the Presidency.
“In fact, three of the ministers were yet to understand their mandate after being in office for two and a half years. One of the ministers had more than 20 agencies under him but his performance was poor.
“We cannot also rule out alleged corruption acts by two to three of the ministers. For instance, there is a particular outgoing minister who forced the parastatals under the ministry to buy a N17million Sports Utility Vehicle SUV for personal use.
“The money-spinning parastatals were unhappy but they had to do it. It also got to a ridiculous extent that the minister was always asking for remittance of interest accruable from funds kept in some banks by parastatals under the ministry.
“Another minister had problems with award of contracts, some of which were rated as inferior. The agencies supervised by the minister made a joint demand for change.
“Ironically, the minister lost a plum cabinet position at a time a platform was created in a state to fight political adversaries of Jonathan. The minister was dazed when the President announced the sack.”
According to a source, there was also the alleged tardiness in the award of the $1.3billion (N212billion) Zungeru Hydro Project.
The Federal Government is expected to spend about N303million in generating one megawatt of electricity. The hydro project is said to be one of the most expensive in the world.
“Although no corruption infraction was found against Hajiya Zainab Kuchi, she was sacrificed for not being vigilant,” the source claimed.
It was also learnt that the alleged overstaying in the cabinet by the former Minister of National Planning, Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, may have led to his exit.
Another source said: “I think Shamsudeen has been in the cabinet since 2007. Though he did well in designing the Performance Benchmark for the Federal Executive Council(FEC), the nation’s planning system has not improved.
“An egg-head, who is a former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), he may have lost his post because of difficulty in measuring his achievements which appeared to be long term. And you know, politicians have no patience for long term gains.”
As at press time, political motives were being read into the sack of some of the ministers but a source in the Presidency disputed these.
Some ministers were reportedly sent packing because of the rebellion of the G-7 governors in the PDP.
“People alluded to this factor because some of the Ministers were nominated by their governors. Such Ministers are Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai(nominated by Governor Sule Lamido); Zainab Kuchi(by Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State); Alhaji Bukar Tijjani(from Borno now being controlled by APC without being unable to mobilise PDP to launch counter-attack),” said the source, adding:
“For Shamsudeen, who was not nominated by Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, his alleged cold war with the Kano State Governor led to the factionalisation of PDP in his state. He became a political risk for Jonathan to retain him in the cabinet.
“But,... <<<<<< N.B from Jumbotweet: auto-truncated at 4K characters on index page - Click here or on the "view" link to see entire jumbotweet! http://www.jumbotweet.com/ltweets/view/14790

STORY: |despite Years Of Service, I Was Sacked From EFCC With Disrespect, Indignity, Says Farida Waziri|
Former chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Farida Waziri has expressed dismay at how she was unceremoniously removed from office despite her years of service to the nation which spans a period of 35 years.
In an exclusive interview with Zero Tolerance, a magazine produced by the EFCC, Mrs. Waziri alleged that she got to know of her sack by President Goodluck Jonathan in November 2011, in the news media; and said she did not deserve such treatment since she had not been found wanting for any misdemeanour.
“If you are removed like that, it has a tendency to scare some people. I wasn’t bothered that I left because my philosophy of life is simple, ‘what has a beginning has an end,’” Mrs. Waziri said in the interview.
Mrs. Waziri was appointed by late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua in 2008 to succeed the pioneer chairman, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who also was booted out of office in rather humiliating circumstances.
She said, “The manner of the sack was what bothered me. I have done a span of 35 years, fighting for my fatherland, I deserve some little dignity and respect. When you wake up and you see on AIT, Waziri sacked! NTA, Waziri sacked! Channels, Waziri sacked! That is the style I am talking about.”
“My predecessor’s case was even worse, but I do hope that the authorities will take note. Except you are removed as a result of gross misconduct, any other way you should be treated with dignity, respect for the human person,” she said.
Mrs. Waziri, a respected police officer, who retired as an Assistant Inspector General of Police, maintained that she had no problem vacating the position of head of EFCC but the approach adopted for her removal was what she frowned at.
“I knew I would one day leave. In fact, the handwriting was on the wall. I knew it was matter of time,” she said.
The former EFCC boss was sacked in November 2011 in what seemed a controversial circumstance, bringing to an end a tenure believed by many to have slowed down the modest successes recorded by her predecessor in office.
Mrs. Waziri was seen as a co-conspirator of her kinsman, then controversial minister of justice, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa in the plot to shield some allegedly corrupt former governors from trial and a case in point was the abysmal trial of former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, who escaped conviction in Nigeria largely due to the shoddy job done by the anti-graft agency.
However, what would later prove to be the ultimate proof that the EFCC under Mrs. Waziri let Mr. Ibori off the hook would be the former governor’s arrest in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, before he was extradited to the United Kingdom where he was convicted and is currently serving a 14-year jail term for stealing state funds.
In the face of these claims, Mrs. Waziri denied helping to free Mr. Ibori and claimed she never knew the former governor even though there were whispers that he was one of those who head-hunted her for the job. She also denied knowing Mr. Aondoakaa prior to her appointment as head of the EFCC, but insinuated that the former minister’s relationship with Mr. Ibori may have played a vital role in his escape from the law.
“I never knew him. I never knew James Ibori. When I was appointed, I went to the villa very often because the president called his staff and told them Farida has free access to him 24/7, whether in the office or villa. So I went there very often and I met Ibori; he was always there,” she said.
“I think what happened was that my younger brother, Aondoakaa, the former attorney general was close to Ibori.”
“….if I was in league with Ibori and was not sincerely pursuing him, would he have run, gone out of this country to... <<<<<< N.B from Jumbotweet: auto-truncated at 4K characters on index page - Click here or on the "view" link to see entire jumbotweet! http://www.jumbotweet.com/ltweets/view/14787
POLICTICS: |Abia PDP Chairman: Jonathan Has The Right To Contest In 2015|
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Abia, Chief Emma Nwaka, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan reserved the right to contest the 2015 presidential election as a sitting president.
Nwaka made this known when he spoke with newsmen on the crisis rocking the party and sundry issues in Umuahia on Wednesday.
According to him, all over the world, the practice is that sitting presidents reserve the right to contest election for a second tenure, so Jonathan has the right to seek re-election in 2015.
He debunked the claims that there was no internal democracy in the party, explaining that the party’s flag bearers at every political contest emerged through democratic process.
Nwaka said that unlike the procedure in opposition parties, PDP always threw the process of electing its representatives open to members during elections.
He cited the recent PDP ward congresses in Anambra, where delegates for the party’s mini-convention in Abuja, were elected rather than hand-picked, to buttress his argument.
He said he led 97 party members from Abia to supervise the exercise, arguing that such process did not obtain in other parties.
The chairman gave the assurance that whoever would succeed Gov. Theodore Orji, in 2015 must emerge through a transparent electoral process, devoid of manipulation.
He said that there was no division in Abia PDP, pointing out that the state was loyal to the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led PDP.
He expressed confidence in the loyalty of members of the National Assembly from the state to Tukur.
“There is no other place for the 11 people we sent to the National Assembly, comprising three senators and eight representatives,” he said.
According to him, anybody wishing to leave PDP should be ready to be in opposition in 2015 “because PDP will win the election.”
He said that the defection of some PDP members to the opposition parties would not affect the party’s fortune in the 2015 election. (NAN)
EDUCATION: |ASUU Slams FG, Calls It Liar Over Release Of Intervention Funds|
***The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Wednesday, described as false, claim by the Federal Government that N130 billion had been released to universities.
According to the union, the Federal Government was yet to release any kobo of the said amount, but had only sent a letter to the governing councils of universities through the National Universities Commission, NUC.
The revelation was contained in a communiqué read by ASUU Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Ademola Nasir, at the end of the zone meeting at the University of Ibadan. The zone comprises University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, University of Lagos, Olabisi Onabanjo University and Tai Solarin University of Education.
ASUU said the government was only interested in awarding contracts of a four-bedroom for N8.5million instead of the original cost of N800,000 and N1.2million, saying, “rather than for government to source for the intervention funds from other agencies outside TETFUND, it has decided to hijack the resources of TETFUND, which already belong to the universities and use it as intervention funds for this purpose.
“In doing this, the regular intervention of TETFUND is blocked. This attitude of government is fraudulent to say the least.”
The union, after passing a vote of confidence on its national leadership over the current strike, regretted that “a government that always says our graduates are not employable finds it difficult to put the best of its resources into the system to make it work.”
[NEWS]: *|Tukur Incapable Of Leading PDP- Baraje Faction|*
The new Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faction led by Abubakar Baraje has said that the national chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, is incapable of leading the party to success in future elections.
The factional PDP's statement on Tuesday comes hours to the continuation of talks by elders of the party to resolve its crisis. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Eze Chukwuemeka, the Baraje-led PDP accused Mr. Tukur of trying to annihilate the party.
The statement described Mr. Tukur's reported attacks against the new faction's leaders, such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, as "exasperating, disgusting, unacceptable and very unfortunate". It said the utterances by Mr. Tukur were capable of derailing the reconciliation efforts being spearheaded by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
"We urge him and members of his cabinet to stop making inflammatory statements capable of derailing the efforts of the Elders Committee of the party under the leadership of His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR to restore normalcy and unity amongst PDP members," the statement said.
The spokesman said, "Tukur and his cohorts should let peace reign by giving due respect to the members of the Elders Committee which consists of former President Ibrahim Babangida, the BOT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih and former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmadu Ali and Dr. Barnabas Gemade, who are handling the reconciliation process, to do their work, as this is necessary so as to allow peace to be restored to our great party." He said that Mr. Tukur's continuous criticism of Messrs Atiku and Amaechi shows that he cannot tolerate dissenting voices and is "incapable of leading a democratic party like the PDP".
He called on Mr. Tukur to "refrain from making statements that are not only false but also capable of overheating the polity and creating more troubles for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and allow Mr. President to find ways to wrangle himself out of the myriad of problems so far created by some misguided elements surrounding him."
Not surprised with Tukur's behaviour
The Baraje faction added that it was not surprised at the behaviour being exhibited by Mr. Tukur and other members of his faction because according to them, they are not familiar with the philosophy and original ideology of the founding fathers of the party. "Patriotic members of PDP will not be either intimidated or harassed out of the party as we are on a mission not only to rediscover the PDP but also to imbibe in the members the vision of the founding fathers of the party and restore internal democracy in the party," the statement read.
The statement also reacted to the threats by some ex-militants that they will make the country ungovernable if President Jonathan is not allowed to contest in 2015, saying, it is not just the Ijaw people that would vote in the 2015 elections but over 300 ethnic groups from every part of the country.
The new PDP faction also commended a splinter PDP in Bayelsa, allegedly associated with former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, which has identified with it.
The statement also said members of the faction shunned the post convention dinner organised by Mr. Jonathan because it was nothing but a charade and an avenue for wasting resources. The statement also denied allegations that Mr. Amaechi is sponsoring the activities of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
"If we may ask, on what basis would Governor Amaechi be sponsoring the activities of APC? Is he a member of the APC? Are there not enough State Governors in APC to sponsor its activities such that Governor Amaechi, whose preoccupation is the development of Rivers State, would have to sponsor the party?" the statement asked.

Treating a woman well requires a combination of common courtesy and uncommon acts of love and kindness. Follow the steps below, and soon your woman will see you for what you are: one of the good guys.
EditSteps
Being a Good Communicator
1Communicate your feelings. Some men underestimate the importance of telling a woman how they feel. In many cases, men prefer to use actions rather than words to communicate their feelings. If that sounds like you, you should know that women need to hear "I love
The good news: turns out that men are more often the ones to declare feelings of love first in a relationship. Research has determined that men take only 88 days to tell their partner they love them (compared to a woman's 134) [1]while another study says men say "I love you" first 70% of the time.
Watch your timing. Women prefer to hear "I love you" after sex rather than before. It could be they distrust the words a bit if they're uttered before sex as it makes them wonder if your saying "I love you" simply to get some action. [3]
2Be a good listener. Everyone--not only women--wants to be heard. If you know how to listen, your woman will greatly appreciate it, and the bond between you two will grow. Try these tips to be a better listener.
Get rid of distractions. That might mean turning off the ballgame or ignoring the text you just got. Try to keep from interrupting unless the question is crucial to your understanding of the situation. Putting your focus completely on your woman shows her that she's important and that
Read non-verbal cues. Gestures, facial expressions and eye-movements can all be important. Don't just listen with your ears but also with your eyes so you can gain greater insight into what she's feeling.
See things from her point of view. Your girlfriend or wife may be upset about something that would never trouble you, or she might describe a scenario you can't imagine being a part of--but you have to try. Put yourself in her shoes to try to understand what she's communicating
Refrain from solving the problem. When a woman is talking through a problem she's facing, a man's first response is to jump in and try to solve it. That impulse comes from a good place, but it's not what a woman wants. She simply wants to be heard, so refrain from coming to the
3Ask her how she's feeling. In many cases, you'll know exactly how the woman in your life is feeling, but sometimes, especially when a relationship is new, you'll have to ask. Researchers in a study published in the journalPLOSshowed men images of eyes
4Fight fair. Even the closest of couples will have arguments; what's important is how you talk to your woman during those disagreements. Do not call names or make threats or use physical intimidation. When the fight is over, don't hold on to hurt feelings; reach out and meet

*'Presidency Plotting To Impeach Gov. Amaechi' - Rivers People Forum*
**The Rivers Peoples Forum (RPF) alleged yesterday that there is a plot for minority lawmakers to impeach Rivers State Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi from office, adding that there are plans to put him on trial on 'phantom charges'.
In a statement by Charles Bekwele on behalf of the RPF, the socio-political group alleged that a "certain interest within the Presidency" is working to illegally and unconstitutionally remove Amaechi by giving him what is code named "the Alamieyeseigha treatment".
According to the RPF, "the plan is to thoroughly embarrass and disgrace Governor Amaechi, which they believe will serve as a warning and deterrent to other 'dissident' governors and dissenting politicians within the PDP who are perceived or considered to be opposed to President Goodluck Jonathan and his second term ambition."
The recent reported withdrawal of some of Amaechi's security detail is said to be part of the grand plot.
The group wondered "why Mr. President is ready and willing to settle and reconcile with six aggrieved northern governors in the 'new PDP', but has ruled out settlement and reconciliation with Amaechi, who is his brother from same Southsouth zone.
They are therefore drawing the attention of the public to this plot of the presidency and warning that any move remove Amaechi will be strongly resisted by the people of Rivers State.
"The plotters are hereby advised in their own good and for the good of the country to desist from such sinister plot. Rivers people elected Governor Amaechi and are indeed pleased with his performance and achievements. No one has the right to illegally boot him out of office because of petty political disagreements. Rivers people say no to impunity"
THE NEW PDP (nPDP) AND THIER CHANCES
*THE breakaway of a faction has lifted the whole power play in the PDP party to a new crescendo. The stake is upped and each one is fighting for its own survival.
The way the situation is now, it is either going to be a zero sum game, where the winner takes all or the loser crashes. In the alternative, a much more subdued PDP will emerge. The situation is already creating orgasmic reactions from the opposition parties. How did things get to this sorry pass? The seed has been sown right from the time of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo as president of the country.
Arbitrariness was the order of the day. People were appointed and removed at the whims of those in authority. During Obasanjo's tenure alone, the PDP had five chairmen of the party and five Senate presidents within eight years - indeed a world record. In the process, so many members were alienated. The same methods were used to impose Yar'Adua and Jonathan as president and vice president, respectively.
Many of them, including Atiku, left for other parties. The short span of Yar'Adua's reign did not allow us to assess the extent he would have gone in the use of presidential powers but a few people like El- Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu got a taste of it. Jonathan came as a gentleman, ready to compromise with everybody, unfortunately, already aggrieved members, having learnt their lessons under Obasanjo, plotted to regain control of the PDP. Jonathan does not have the military background and ruthlessness of Obasanjo and in attempting to use Obasanjo's strategies to make the party toe the line, he is finding great resistance.
That is the situation of the PDP. In a very simplistic manner, the problems of the PDP can be solved if all of the participants agree to subject themselves to a true democratic process, beginning from the state level. If the wishes of the PDP in terms of the majority are allowed to reign, then everybody can go to sleep. Unfortunately, this has not been possible -Anambra, Rivers, Adamawa - to mention but a few states, are still deadlocked on who their true representatives should be. Therefore, as the party cannot carry out genuine democratic elections within, the fight must go on.
The battle is now between Jonathan and Atiku's faction. Will Atiku succeed? Why is he - Atiku- still insisting on being a member of the PDP? What does he stand to gain? Will it not be better for him and acolytes to go and form a party of their own instead of the roforofo fight they are staging? Or is the whole thing just a gimmick to gain control of the ruling party, as that is where the juice is? Time will tell. There is no need over-flogging the issue that President Jonathan and his political strategists mismanaged the affairs of the Rivers State crises. A simple sincere face- to-face discussion with Amaechi would have put the whole thing to rest. Allowing the interest of the President's wife to interfere with the interest of the party was a big mistake.
Amaechi knows that his political survival is at stake if allowed to be bullied into submission; his political career will be over. He is, therefore, like a goat that has his back on the wall, he either wins it or lose everything. He has teamed up with the North whose politicians want the presidency to revert back to them. How will the PDP handle the issue of Amaechi? It is a sore thumb and must be delicately handled. It must be noted here that, if Amaechi is persuaded to revert back to Jonathan, the remaining governors will be from the North, it will then, become a North - South thing.
Can Amaechi be prised away from the group? Amaechi, from his antecedents, is a very good political strategist. How will the Jonathan group appease him? We are reading from the papers that the elders of the PDP are meeting to find a solution... <<<<<< N.B from Jumbotweet: auto-truncated at 4K characters on index page - Click here or on the "view" link to see entire jumbotweet! http://www.jumbotweet.com/ltweets/view/14759

It’s wrong to make stowaway boy hero – NAAPE
News
By LAWANI MIKAIRU
National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE, has criticised the award of scholarship to stowaway teenager, Daniel Oikhena, by the Governor Rauf Aregbesola Foundation.
The association contended , yesterday, that it was wrong to make hero out of the boy.
It will be recalled that on Saturday, August 24, 2013, the teenager successfully breached the security of the Benin Airport, operated by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, and managed to stowaway at the wheel well of an Arik aircraft on a flight from Benin to Lagos.
Daniel Oikhena
The boy was apprehended when he came out of the wheel well on landing in Lagos.
According to Bunmi Gindeh, Public Relations Officer, NAAPE, the association “seriously frowns at the effort by some people to make a hero out of the stowaway boy by publicly giving reward to a boy that at best fell far short of acceptable behaviour.
“While NAAPE does not want to stand in the way of anyone’s fortune, we consider that in this particular case, making such gesture public gives an erroneous impression which makes it a dis-service.
“We fear that such public gesture, even in the name of charity, will only encourage other kids, and even adults, to embark on similar misadventure.”
The association said it was also concerned that both FAAN and Arik had been publicly trading blames over the incident, when the two corporate bodies were both aware of their responsibilities to assist in the process of identification and rectification of the problem, and in a civilised manner.

In the legislative electionheld on 12 April 2003, the party won 54.5% of the popular vote and 223 out of 360 seats in the House of Representatives, and 76 out of 109 seats in the Senate. Its candidate in the presidential election of 19 April 2003, Olusegun Obasanjo, was re-elected with 61.9% of the vote.
In December 2006 Umaru Yar'Aduawas chosen as the presidential candidate of the ruling PDP for the April 2007 general election, receiving 3,024 votes from party delegates; his closest rival, Rochas Okorocha, received only 372 votes. [ 1 ]Yar'Adua was eventually declared the winner of the 2007 general elections, held on April 21, and was sworn in on May 29, 2007, amid widespread allegations of electoral fraud. In the Nigerian National Assemblyelection, the party won 260 out of 360 seats in the House of Representativesand 85 out of 109 seats in the Senate.
At the PDP's 2008 National Convention, it chose Prince Vincent Ogbulaforas its National Chairman on March 8, 2008. [ 2 ] [ 3 ]Ogbulafor, who was the PDP's National Secretary from 2001 to 2005, was the party's consensus choice for the position of National Chairman, selected as an alternative to the rival leading candidates Sam Egwu(who was backed by Obasanjo) and Anyim Pius Anyim. All 26 other candidates, including Egwu and Anyim, withdrew in favor of Ogbulafor. Meanwhile, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Barajewas elected as National Secretary. [ 3 ]
However, in recent weeks, wave of mass defection has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Nigeria, with many aggrieved members decamping mostly to the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN). The aggrieved members who are moving with their supporters will no doubt, boost the chances of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the presumptive Presidential flag bearer of the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) ahead the 2011 general elections in Nigeria.
In 2011, after the People's Democratic Party saw members defect for the Action Congress of Nigeria, some political commentators suspected that the PDP would lose the Presidency. [ 4 ] [ 5 ]Following PDP nomination Goodluck Jonathan's victory in the 2011 elections, it was reported that there were violent protests from northern youth.

News Peoples Democratic Party's Faction (PDP) led by Abubakar Barajehas elected a National Working Committee (NWC). This move seems to have refuted President Goodluck Jonathan's claims that the party was intact.
The NWC has bee formed after the security siege and closure of the new faction's secretariatin Abuja on Saturday, September 7.

It further informs that An Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) with registration number NPF 5229 C was parked at the main entrance and about a dozen mobile policemen were seen stationed along the road leading to the secretariat.
An anonymous source ofThe Nationrevealed that "The presidency is insisting on sanction against the rebellious members to serve as deterrent to others. "But the elders are of the opinion that the party should adopt no victor, no vanquished policy to move forward. "This demand for sanction will top the resumption of peace talks in Abuja when Obasanjo's team reconvenes."
It will be reminded, that the new faction chaired by Baraje and consisting of seven of the party's 23 governors, has announced that it has taken over the party on Saturday, August 31. Since then struggleswithin the ruling parties have been escalating. One of the turns of the crisis was closureby the police of the the secretariat of the split faction on Saturday.
