This is part of the Chronology of David as I teach it in college: 1095, Saul became king. 1085, David born. 1079, Saul rejected. 1063, David anointed, kills Goliath (22 years old); 1062-1056, David a fugitive; 1056, Saul dies, David becomes king of Judah; 1048, David king of all Israel; 2 Sam 5:4-5. Study it out and it will bring the stories to life.
