Residents in the Makoi and Narere areas in Nasinu were in for a bit of a surprise earlier today when they experienced a small hailstorm which followed thunderstorms and heavy rain in the central parts of the country. One resident, Shalini Prakash said it was the first time she had ever experienced a hailstorm, saying they were alarmed by the sound of objects hitting her rooftop. The incident occurred about 2.45pm and because of its rarity, was soon splashed all over social networking site, Facebook. The Nadi Weather Office has confirmed it will release a statement soon outlining the reason for the hailstorm.
